500 Cushion Covers Sold This Year

Yes, that's right. I've sold 500 cushion covers so far this year. I don't normally talk about such things, but I do think that's a pretty good number considering so many people are complaining about business.

My only complaint is that I don't have time to do much else including posting on my blog and visiting others.

I'm not sure if things are going to change much in the coming weeks as I also have an interesting project on the go which is taking both time and creative energy.

Thank you for your concerns re our grandson's injuries. I'm happy to say the casts have been removed and he is back to being his normal happy little self.
Here he is giving Sunny a hug.

Our Poor Little Bubbie

Haven't visited blog land much lately because I've been very upset about an accident suffered by the newest member of our family.  I don't know the exact details, but our grandson was at his other grandma's house when he came in contact with what must have been a very hot oven door. As a result, both his hands are badly burnt.

Here is the little cherub on his way home from the burns unit of Westmead Children's Hospital. He has one arm in plaster to the elbow and the other in plaster to the shoulder. Look at that tiny thumb poking out of the cast.

I know children, especially boys, have accidents, and it could have been much worse, but I hate to think of the treatments he still needs and his poor parents having to watch their baby go through it.

I love him so much I wish I could swap places with him.

"Inspirated" by A-M's Lights

On a recent episode of MKR, one of the contestants kept saying she was "inspirated" by and to do a variety of things.

Looking at some of the new lights A-M is currently receiving into stock at Cape Cod Designs, I must say I feel "inspirated" to find a new (old) house we can renovate so I can buy some of these beauties. Of course, by the time we do, A-M will have even more gorgeous lights from which to choose.

More New Stock

My eBay store bolted out of the gates at the beginning of the year and I've never been so busy. Now things have quietened down a little, my sewing helper and I have had time to make up some new fabrics.

I'm really loving these bold geometric, Ikat spot and chevron designs
in tangerine with white,

 marine blue with white

and corn yellow with white

$49.95 for set of 2 cushion covers from  My Cushion Covers

New in Store

Lemon/yellow Suzani cushion covers, new in my shop this week

I've never been afraid of colour and I've always loved yellow. So glad yellow is fashionable, especially with grey and black.

The Decluttering Bug

I think I must have been vaccinated against this at an early age because until recently, I've never caught so much as the mildest case.
But on the weekend, we took part in a garage sale and I can tell you it felt wonderful to get rid of so much stuff.
We dragged things down from the loft. Things I'd forgotten we had and other stuff, like the carnival glass jug, that I never did like but kept for years because someone gave it to me.
We hung pictures on the walls of the garage - my idea, typical!
And got rid of goodness knows how many presents we'd been given over the years. Why do people give homewares to decorators?
I've developed a serious dislike for candles, sorry, 'home scents' so it was good to see the back of these.
Not to mention this pair of giant jute tassels,
 this old gate,
a bag of tangled diving gear,
and a couple of rather small tents.

Well, I'm happy to say we are now the proud non-owners of much of the above. So that's the loft sorted, just have to get stuck into the rest of the house!

Happy Australia Day

On this Australia Day, I thought I'd post a picture of a little flowering gum that's growing in my native garden. I don't know what it's called as it was given to me by someone who dug it up from her garden saying she "didn't like natives". Can you imagine someone not liking our beautiful plants? I can't!

And here's a flower from our very old 'Old Man Banksia' which puts on a show every year in time for the black cockatoos to come along and prune them off.

And look, there's a rusty old kangaroo enjoying a scratch.....

And a fat goanna lying in the sun!
All in my garden today.

Happy Australia Day!
